"One autumn morning, while walking a ranch outside of Sweetwater TX, I observed a doe and yearling come out to feed along a meadow next to a dry creek. These were two deer I had watched the year before as a mother and fawn, and they were always together. The fawn never leaving its mothers side.
After a quiet morning of vegetative breakfast, the mother began walking slowly away into the brush to the east. But, on this day the fawn did not follow the mother. Instead, she changed direction and disappeared into the brush to the west.
To me it was a metaphor of change. We all reach that point in our lives where we have to make a change in some way. To somehow take our own steps away from the past and into a new unknown future. A change of direction." ~Darrell Davis
