He has also designed and consulted on numerous public and private outdoor sculpture gardens and master plans, including the cities of Little Rock, Ar; Southlake, TX; Louisville, CO; the Skagway Sculpture & Flower Garden in Skagway, Alaska; and the Cerritos Public Sculpture Park in California. ALYSON KINKADE  – as Co-owner of JK Designs, Inc. and Assistant Director of the National Sculptors' Guild, Alyson oversees project management and administration. Since graduating from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1999, her own public artwork has displayed at the State Capitol and DIA; and is in the permanent collection of Colorado State University, and the cities of Paramount, CA; Loveland, CO; Downey, CA; and Little Rock, AR. She has been featured in Southwest Art and American Art Collector magazines. By facilitating our placements of art in public places, Alyson’s efforts for our team shares a common goal with her own art – as a means to uplift, inspire, and connect. RUSSEL A. MARTINO - Our primary structural engineers, ​Martino & Luth, was founded in 2004 in Denver, Colorado filling the need for a Denver-based company that could focus on the essence of structural engineering and the art of creative problem solving.  A philosophy Luth developed in the late 1970's. Martino & Luth strive to bring the art of structural engineering back to the profession within their design collaborative: The Renaissance Design Group. The only prerequisite for attracting the best efforts of our engineers is that there be a need for - and appreciation of- thoughtful, elegant and creative engineering solutions. We relish a challenge. We have amassed a large and eclectic body of work over the past 20 years including projects of virtually every type and material ranging from major bridges to small residential projects. ​
GREGORY P. LUTH & ASSOCIATES - are structural engineers that we collaborate with on our largest projects. GPLA was founded in 1985 in Denver, Colorado, by Gregory P. Luth. In 1991 GPLA moved to California. The firm’s work is characterized by a dedication to the practice of engineering as a combination of art, craftsmanship, science, and service. The firm, and its founder, have amassed a large and eclectic body of work over the past 30+ years including projects of virtually every type, size and material ranging from major bridges to small residential projects. We are licensed in 49 states, D.C. and Guam, and have had projects in virtually every region of the United States. Our specialty is large mixed-use projects where our diverse experience equips us to take a proactive role anticipating, identifying, and solving challenges in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The National Sculptors' Guild Member Artists

JK Designs’ Principal, John Kinkade, founded the National Sculptors’ Guild in 1992 with a handful of sculptors who wished to find thoughtful public applications for their work. Representation has since grown to over 15 members; plus an extended network of over 200 artists that our design team works with on a regular basis to meet each project's unique needs.

The central theme of my work is celebrating the gift of life. Most of my work in the last few years has been commissioned. I enjoy the challenge of combining the client’s vision and needs with my own ideas to create lasting depictions of significant memories in their lives. Although I am open to considering many concepts involving the human figure, I am particularly drawn to capturing subjects in motion. Movement, after all, is what captures our attention. Children at play and athletes in motion are my favorite subjects because of the passion for life they demonstrate. It is a constant challenge to capture these qualities in bronze and pass that on to the viewer. When developing each new sculpture my primary concern is artistic integrity.

Years of experience as a professional guide in the remote wilderness of northern Canada has informed Tim's sculpture, inspiring him to create authentic and artistic interpretations of the wildlife that has so profoundly affected his life. “I hope to create the best possible sculpture that I can by building strong designs through shape, line, texture an color. Always pushing my artistic boundaries to achieve what has not been done before, reaching out and experimenting with new designs and gestures. Tim was born in Calgary, Alberta and raised in the mountains of British Columbia. Tim is the recipient of numerous awards including the James Earle Fraser Sculpture Award from the Prix de West show at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK. His journey in sculpture began after a visit to Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells inlet South Carolina, as a teenager. After receiving a BFA from The University of Texas at Arlington he enrolled in the Graduate School of Architecture`s landscape program. Wildlife sculptor, Darrell Davis, knew at age 15 he wanted to be a sculptor after visiting the South Carolina’s Brookgreen Sculpture Garden. Davis studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington, and too k graduate classes in landscape architecture also at the University of Texas. In 2013 Darrell was awarded the Gold Medal and Maurice B Hexter prize at the National Sculpture Society 80th Annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens SC. Darrell is a signature member of the National Sculpture Society, American Society of Marine Artists, Society of Animal Artists, and California Art Club. Darrell Davis was born in 1962 in rural west Texas but spent his early years in the Los Angeles area. From these two disparate worlds, Davis’ love of seeming contradiction emerged. Those diverse experiences and viewpoints were seeds that play out magnificently in his work today and he strives to learn, grow and push this envelope in every new piece. In a style that he and a few of his contemporaries lovingly refer to as impatient realism, he touches his audience. Combining the softness, fluidity and grace of his living subjects with the clean hard geometric, all while maintaining structure and composition, he manages to meld the two into something more powerful and impactful. “I love the idea of mixing the geometric, almost architectural shapes, with that of the free flowing organic. There is just something about sharp geometric lines juxtaposed with the organic curvilinear lines of nature that intrigues me of late.” “I guess its really an attempt to mesh the man-made world with the natural world. It’s a conundrum that I’m intrigued with abstraction and that of traditional realism. A large amount of abstraction is much too cold and dehumanizing, while a large amount of contemporary realism is simply stiff modeling of a subject. I fight to avoid both of those traps in my compositions. Sometimes you succeed and sometimes you don’t.” In the end, to me, the art of sculpture is all about balance, mass, composition, and gravity.” Darrell’s amazing ability to utilize convergent scientific thinking with the more divergent thinking traditionally associated with art produces works that affect both the right and left brain providing a pleasing balance. Davis was recently awarded the National Sculpture Society’s Gold Medal and Maurice B. Hexter prize at its 80th annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens. Davis is an elected member of the National Sculpture Society, California Art Club, American Society of Marine Artists, and Society of Animal Artists.

She has also worked with sculptors’ Fritz White, Danny Ostermiller and Kent Ulberg. Terry Kelsey, Forrest Hart and Glenna Goodacre. A member of the National Sculptors’ Guild (1994) and National Sculpture Society (1998), in 2007, she became a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society, New York, NY. DeDecker has gone on to receive copious awards, such as the Critics’ Choice Award from the Kimball Art Museum, Fort Worth, TX. Jane DeDecker has been making a major contribution to the world sculpture scene since 1986. Creating over 300 limited-edition original sculptures. She has been published in magazines reaching global circulations, from Art and Antiques to European Home and Gardens. She has been sought out for her artistic integrity by organizations ranging from the National Parks Service to the President of the United States. “My work is a cumulative process made of my life experiences and my desire to sculpt the human form. Each piece tells a story of how it was created-every stroke supporting the narrative. I can see in each of my pieces the evolution of learning and the discovery that takes place when I develop the soul and likeness of my subject. I try to retain in the sculpture the beginning strokes and gestures, because for me they contain the truth of the spirit. The finished piece hopefully reveals my thoughtful study of the subject and the energy of the creative process.”

It is intensely personal and honest. His themes are recurring: Spirit, Love, Forgiveness, Healing, Relationship, Endurance, the Sacredness of the Human Spirit, and the Strength in each of us, the Power of all that is Natural Denny Haskew currently resides in Loveland, Colorado where he is actively engaged in the art industry as a sculptor. He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians, CA. The natural beauty of this region was instrumental in my aesthetic development. The language of the land and its features has guided me toward sculpture as my means of artistic expression. I discovered my love of art in high school, having been exposed to advanced creative concepts through a self-developed independent study program. I grew up surrounded by construction tools and forms as my father, uncle, and grandfather built custom homes throughout Northern Colorado. This upbringing influenced my understanding of building and the value of craftsmanship. I spent a few years working for my dad's company, learning how to read blueprints and use the various tools of the trade. I eventually coupled my love of art and construction into sculpture by working for well-known sculptors in Loveland's bronze industry. I learned welding, metal finishing, mold-making and the enlargement of small models into monumental scale artworks. During this time, I also cast my own bronze sculpture and explored the subtractive sculpting methods of stone and wood carving. An injury caused me to turn to the computer and 3D modeling software which has enabled me to create an enormous variety of fabricated forms achievable in a vast assortment of materials. For the past twelve years, I have specialized in large-scale public works that include collaborations with architects, landscape architects, engineers, designers and a host of city planners and officials. These ‘team’ efforts have been the most rewarding of my career. My approach to public artworks is to follow a collaborative working model. I seek input from many sources and incorporate a multitude of means to produce successful artwork. The result is one wherein the line between artist, client and audience is blurred and the sense of accomplishment is shared by all. Through my public artwork, I hope to elicit a sense of pride and ownership in the community by way of an approachable sculptural vernacular. I would like the viewer to feel as though my work is speaking for them as well as to them. My work is primarily focused on the conveyance of metaphorical meanings that relate to universal themes such as balance, interdependence, and the human condition. I utilize technology to a great degree in the creation of my sculpture. I also seek to use more environmentally conscious materials and processes wherever possible. These sustainable and technological aspects are essential to artwork for public places, both in theme & practice. Dependent on the nature of each project, I employ durable materials such as stone, concrete, metal and glass. I find that the interplay between different media serves to accentuate the intrinsic qualities of each material. This juxtaposition adds another layer of interest to the total artwork placement.

My best work has regret and relief and sometimes I throw wrenches. I steal natural shapes for my sculpture. Animal bones and river stones feel familiar in my gut. They’re all over the place, and they’re beautiful. I take emotional resonance and apply it to beautiful shapes. The right emotion AND the right shape just might be powerful to the right person. Maybe it is a small example of how to practice BOTH AND in addition to EITHER OR. My intent is to make art that contributes to a wider conversation about justice and care and our impact on the world. Joe Norman graduated with a degree in engineering from Stanford University prior to careers in product design consulting, education, and fine art. His furniture and sculpture explore environments that support and promote communities. Many of his designs are direct results of working with schools, families, and businesses to develop places that encourage people to work and be together in positive and supportive ways. Joe believes that gathering places feed the soul of our communities; that it is around our kitchens or with our feet propped up on coffee tables that we have some of our most important conversations. He thinks the most important part of his work isn’t the tables he makes, but rather it is about the people that are sitting around them. In other words, we do not need more stuff in our lives that does not bring us together in community. Joe’s furniture is made with recycled and environmentally conscious processes and materials whenever possible; he considers the earth itself as an important member of our global community. In fact, many of his ideas in were born from wrecking yards, recycling centers, and retired bicycles. His machine shop is powered by renewable wind energy.

Wildlife bronze sculpture by SANDY SCOTT available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art A licensed pilot for more than thirty years, she feels her knowledge of aerodynamics has been helpful in achieving the illusion of movement in her bird sculpture. The Thomas Gilcrease Museum honored Sandy with a major retrospective exhibition in “Rendezvous ‘98”. Spirit of the Wild Things, a book about Sandy’s work was published the same year. Congratulations to Sandy for her recent accolades from the Briscoe Western Art Museum, honoring her with the Legacy Award. Sandy Scott received her formal art training at the Kansas City Art Institute and later worked as an animation background artist for the motion picture industry. She turned her attention to etchings and printmaking in the 1970’s and to sculpture in the 1980’s. Born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1943 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is now headquartered in Lander, Wyoming near the foundry that casts her bronzes and she maintains studios on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada and in the mountains of northern Colorado. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams, she is an avid outdoorswoman who loves to hunt and fish. In Canada her friends Dave and Michelle Beaushane who own Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts frequently fly her and Trish (her long time friend who manages the business end of things) to remote lakes and portages north of Kenora, Ontario. She has made 16 trips to Alaska and has been to Europe, Russia, China and South America to visit the world’s great museums. She believes wildlife artists should be in the field to accurately present their subject to the viewer. Her work is authentic. She has experienced and lived what she depicts.
