Roy Wilce Estate

“We live at times with too much angst. I want my paintings to have a calming effect on the viewer. I do not paint with a center of interest. That to me makes a painting dull and ordinary.

I've had a love affair with the American landscape all my life. Raised in up state New York I experienced the orchards, lakes and wood landscapes: all that state had to offer. Texas and New Mexico revealed the splendor of the west and California showed me the coast and rolling, golden hills and Colorado seemed to have it all. The paintings I show are painted with great love.

I do not paint with a center of interest. That to me makes a painting dull and ordinary. The fact that my paintings are bought is the highest compliment."

Prior to his death in the spring of 1999, Roy appointed JK Designs as the exclusive representative to his Estate. We have represented Wilce since our establishment in 1992. We are familiar with all aspects of his creative process. Primarily known for his oil pastels, Wilce was a highly respected artist in fiber and oil paintings as well, demonstrating impeccable craftsmanship in each medium. He was a prolific artist, widely collected by both private and corporate collectors across the United States. His work is universally appealing containing comforting soft edges countered by bold use of color.  His unique approach to the landscape was to capture its vastness through a build-up of thousands of small strokes. Strong compositions draw one in to better appreciate the subtleties.
Owned and operated by the father/daughter team of John Kinkade & Alyson Kinkade, JK Designs, Inc., represents the National Sculptors' Guild members plus several renowned painters. We are a Colorado corporation, established in 1992 with the sole purpose of finding thoughtful public applications for our artist's work throughout the nation. For each project, our design team selects a lead artist whose aesthetics best match the needs of the site and community. When appropriate, multiple artists can be utilized to create a cohesive collection that also has a breadth of style, subject, material and technique.
