Columbine's Scott Freeman executed his annual Community Mural downtown Loveland, CO, 4th and Lincoln Ave. February 8th and 9th was the community participation portion of this year's mural. Finished product #LovelandGothic is shown below.
Attendees to the Sweetheart Festival paint individual 9" square tiles (320 this year) that are strategically marked off in sections by Freeman using a simple instruction in each (much like paint by number, only it's using values L-light, M-medium, D-dark), Paints varied in hues matching these values are provided so that anything can be painted to the artist's desire within these sections; making small paintings that when placed together create a larger image.
The magic comes to life as the tiles are placed on the wall using corresponding numbers, only then does the larger picture that Freeman set out to create become clear.
